Question
A vehicle joins a motorway and travels at a steady speed pf 25 m s-1 for 30 mins then it travels a further distance of 40 km in 20 min before leaving the motorway.
Calculate its average speed on the motorway.

25 m/sec = 25*3.6 = 90 km/h
90 km/h*0.5 h = 45 km
total distance d = 45+40 = 85 km
total time t = 1/2+1/3 = 5/6 of hour
average speed = d/t = 85*6/5 = 102 km/h
